AP CAPSTONE RESEARCH A - 622005

All students may take courses with Advanced Placement (AP) designation. In AP Research students will learn to synthesize information from multiple sources, develop their own perspectives in written essays, and design and deliver oral and visual presentations, both individually and in a team. Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research and on four additional AP exams of their choosing will earn the AP Capstone Diploma. Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research, but not on four additional AP exams will receive the AP Seminar and Research certificate. Credit for Graduation: English

AP Seminar is a foundational course that engages students in cross-curricular conversations that explore the complexities of academic and real-world topics and issues by analyzing divergent perspectives in a team environment. Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research and on four additional AP Exams of their choosing will receive the AP Capstone Diploma. Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research, but not on four additional AP Exams will receive the AP Seminar and Research Certificate. American Historical Literature- American Transcendentalism- 203211

This multidisciplinary course introduces students to the American philosophical and literary movement known as Transcendentalism. The course focuses on the development of historical thinking skills and student's college and career readiness by building skills in critical reading, academic writing, and language use. Students will engage with significant historical themes and rigorous texts that support the standards' additional goals of analyzing change and continuity over time.

Eligible for a 0.5 Social Studies credit or a 0.5 English credit

This course will develop student’s college and career readiness by building skills in critical reading, academic writing, speaking and listening, research and inquiry, and language use. Students will learn to evaluate the credibility of information, critique others’ opinions, and construct their own opinions based on evidence. IB DP Language and Literature 2- 010113/14

This is the second level course for IB DP Language and Literature. In this course, students study a wide range of literary and non-literary texts in a variety of media. By examining communicative acts across literary form and textual type alongside appropriate secondary readings, students will investigate the nature of language itself and the ways in which it shapes and is influenced by identity and culture. Approaches to study in the course are meant to be wide ranging and can include literary theory, sociolinguistics, media studies and critical discourse analysis among others.
