This course provides reading and writing instruction for students in English 7. Instruction is focused on vocabulary and language development, thinking skills, and reading and writing strategies. Reading, writing, speaking, listening, language and collaborative strategies are used purposefully to build knowledge and skills and to help students become independent readers, writers and thinkers as they continue to progressively build the skills necessary for academic success in middle school. Placement in this course is determined by leveled assessments in conjunction with IEP goals.
