EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION I A - 801101

Evaluating the impact of parenting roles and responsibilities on strengthening the well being of individuals and families is the focus of the course. It is designed to assist students in developing appropriate skills and attitudes in working and living with young children. Ongoing planned learning experiences with young children are an essential component. Areas of study include the intellectual, social, emotional and biological development of children, parent-child relationships, parenting practices, special needs of children, parental and environmental influences on child development, and external support systems. FAMILY HEALTH - 802092

Family Health is designed to prepare students for life-long decision making, problem solving, critical thinking, and management skills related to health and wellness issues impacting families. The primary focus is enabling students to actively participate in developing healthy lifestyles for themselves and others. Integrating the Washington Health and Fitness essential learnings with standards and competencies from the National Standards for Family and Consumer Sciences Education, this course curriculum encompasses the interrelationships of healthy choices for a productive, satisfying life. INDEPENDENT LIVING - 808101

Independent Living will prepare students to make responsible decisions focusing on essential skills to become self-sufficient. Curriculum includes: career exploration, managing personal finances, communication tools and consumer skills. Graduation Credit: CTE

NUTRITION AND WELLNESS - 807101

Nutrition and Wellness focuses on understanding wellness, examining principles of nutrition, the use and effects of science and technology in our food system, ensuring food safety, nutritional food preparation, and exploring careers in the field of nutrition and wellness. This course highlights an understanding of today’s food and eating trends giving students the capacity to intelligently evaluate available sources of nutrition information in order to make lifelong decisions.
