This course will emphasize core content and processing skills that are critical to the foundation for algebra. Students will be introduced to linear functions and equations, properties of geometric figures, summary and analysis of data, key topics about numbers such as scientific notation, using exponents in expressions containing both numbers and variables and simple irrational numbers, and understand and communicate mathematical ideas, to make generalizations, to draw logical conclusions, and to verify the reasonableness of solutions to problems. Placement in this course is determined by leveled assessments in conjunction with IEP goals.
