AP SPANISH A - 258509

All students may take courses with AP designation. The AP Spanish course develops the student’s listening, speaking, reading comprehension, grammar and composition skills and prepares students to successfully take the AP Spanish Language exam. This course uses a thematic approach to introduce students to representative texts (short stories, novels, poetry, plays, and essays) from Peninsular Spanish, Latin American, and U.S. Hispanic literature. Students develop proficiencies across three modes of communication (interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational). Through careful examination of required readings and other texts, students work to hone their critical reading and analytical writing skills. Student will earn college credit with a score of 4 or higher on the Ap Spanish Literature Exam. Credit for Graduation: World Language

IB DP Spanish Language & Literature 2 010123/24

This is the second level course of  IB DP Spanish Language & Literature. In this course, students study a wide range of literary and non-literary texts in a variety of media. By examining communicative acts across literary form and textual type alongside appropriate secondary readings, students will investigate the nature of language itself and the ways in which it shapes and is influenced by identity and culture. Approaches to study in the course are meant to be wide-ranging and can include literary theory, sociolinguistics, media studies and critical discourse analysis among others.

WORLD LANGUAGE LAB A- 258701

Utilizing the latest language learning software and interactive online resources, students may pursue a world language of their choosing at the beginning or advanced levels, such as American Sign Language, Chinese, French, Spanish, German, or Japanese. In a language lab format, this course offers skill-building in speaking, reading, writing and listening through engaging online dialogues, multimedia resources, and exploration of literature and art in the target language. Assessment in this course will be based on a combination of online quizzes, tests, written assignments, and active online participation. Student progress will be closely monitored and feedback will be provided by both the online and in-class instructors.
